CORPORATE CITIZEN
Though FOC has always supported the non-profit organizations listed as well as countless others, those annual donations and hours of volunteerism have remained somewhat private until launching the FOC Corporate Citizen. Through Corporate Citizen we intend to bring greater awareness and support to the causes we care so deeply about.
Corporate Citizen has been built on a foundation to make a difference
FOC, founded in New Bedford, MA, USA, in “the city that lit the world“, continues the new traditions of lighting the world, through both its global business footprint and community involvement and support. The history of the city that lit the world can be found on Our Home page.
Community Involvement
A believer that a business is only as strong as the community that surrounds and supports it, FOC has always invested in this area and organizations. Our reach is wider than only our local neighborhood but the New Bedford, MA and surrounding areas are the foundation that we support first and build our investments upon. This dedication has brought our workers together in support of common causes.
Mission Support
Becoming a step in the journey of a charity or non-profit organization mission, results in unexpected physical and social benefits. Through volunteering, we have found the opportunity to build our social networks and friendships while contributing to important causes. It has been a pleasure to experience an inner desire to become more involved with our partners in community improvements for many of us following our corporate examples.
Education and Perspectives
Supporting causes helps keep us informed about issues. When donating monetarily or through our time and efforts, we become more educated about the needs in our own community and social injustices around the world. The process of making new connections and discovering new points of view and possible solutions influences our perspectives. These experiences of collaboration outside of the office, create new levels of opportunities and business development within the office.
Investing in the FOC team
Every member of a team has personal motivations. As people, we naturally want to be connected and to contribute. This innate desire creates communities and effort. FOC is a special place with many members of the team donating their personal time and funds to organizations where they have passion, challenges and ties.
FOC has been led by management that believes investing in charities makes an investment towards a better future for your employees and your business. We have become a culture about people having relationships with people and sharing their stories about why their causes are important. With a team that has grown into a reflection of its leadership, FOC has made charitable giving contagious.
Our office has become a home for knowing we, both as a whole and individually, contribute to important causes. It is said that giving improves psychological, spiritual and emotional well-being. Simply put, giving is good. At FOC, we are proud to be continuing a tradition of lighting the world in our own unique way.
As Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” At FOC, we are each very lucky to be a part of a business that is a community within itself and one that supports the balance of work, passion, life, and making a difference in our worlds.
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
