The 3M™ Diamond Lapping Film 662XW is an abrasive film used for polishing the end-face of fiber optic connectors. Its purpose is to shape the fiber geometries, such as restoring or forming the Radius of Curvature and Apex Offset of the ferrule. Diamond film exhibits an extended lifespan of 2 to 3 times longer compared to conventional films, and its high-cut rate enables more efficient material removal for a faster polishing process. The 5" disc is used for applications in fiber optic connector processing, flat lapping, and superfinishing.
