3M™ 491X Flock Pile Silicon Carbide Lapping Film is a more aggressive abrasive material, often recommended over Aluminum Oxide Lapping Film for epoxy and glass removal. These films break down into a slurry during use with water for polishing MT style, multi-fiber ferrules. It enables better control of fiber protrusion and helps slurry mess and contamination on fixtures and polishing machines.
The 5" disc is used for applications in MT style, multi-fiber optic connector optic connector polishing and wafer edge cleaning.
