ÅngströmLap® Aluminum Oxide Lapping Film Disc - 5 inch 0.5µm (micron)
AO05F503N100
AngstromLap 0.5um Aluminum Oxide Lapping Film, 5" Disc with 3mil Backing, package of 100 discs.
ÅngströmLap Aluminum Oxide Lapping Film is recommended when diamond lapping film is not needed, like in many fiber optic multimode applications. Some aluminum oxides can even be used as the final polish. The 0.5µm and 0.3µm will produce return losses of -50 dB or better, but because they cut the glass at a much quicker rate than the ceramic, undercut may occur. The lapping film disc is used for applications in fiber optic connector polishing, flat lapping, superfinishing and media head finishing.
Aluminum Oxide 0.5µm lapping film is typically used as a final film for MM connectors. To achieve the best finish with 0.5µm AlOx, FOC recommends using it with Ultra Polish Solution. When used with the Ultra Polish Solution, it will give a near-flawless finish.
The 5" film disc is the standard size for the Domaille APM-HDC-xxxx Series, Seikoh Giken SFP-5XX Series and Ultra Tec UT-8812 or UT-8808 Polishing Machines.
