EPO-TEK® 383ND High Temperature Epoxy, Heat Cure (4g)

ET383ND-4G

EPO-TEK® 383ND Heat Cure Epoxy, Extended Working Life, 2-Part Epoxy, 4 Gram Packet

Extended Pot Life 8 hours
The EPO-TEK® 383ND Epoxy is a two-component, high-temperature, electrically and thermally insulating epoxy. It is designed as a longer pot life version of EPO-TEK 353ND. This 100% heat-cured epoxy is formulated for bonding glass, ceramic, and metals. Centrifuge Recommendation: 5-10 min @ 1,000 RPM. Available in a 4-gram packet.

Features of 383ND:

  • Pot Life: 8 Hours
  • Color changes from clear to dark amber when cured properly.
  • Low viscosity allows for wicking and capillary dispensing.
  • Capable of high performance in fiber optic applications; designed to meet Telcordia 1221
  • Recommended Cure: 150°C / 1 Hour

Applications for 383ND:

  • Provides strong transmission in the near IR (800–1,500 nm); ideal for sealing fiber to ferrules and transmitting light through optical pathways
  • Commonly used in fiber optic component packaging, including optical alignment, environmental sealing of optoelectronic packages, and V-groove arrays
  • Suitable for potting fiber optic bundles into ferrules for light guides and endoscopes
  • Functions as a dielectric layer in capacitor fabrication and in laminating PZT piezoelectrics used in inkjet devices
  • Used as a structural-grade epoxy in hard disk drives, including applications such as anti-disk and voice coil sealing

Physical Properties:

  • Color (before cure):
    • Part A: Clear
    • Part B: Slightly yellow
  • Consistency: Pourable liquid
  • Viscosity (23°C): 3,500 - 6,000 cPs
  • Glass Transition Temperature, Tg: ≥ 100°C
  • Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE):
    • Below Tg: 34 x 10-6 in/in°C
    • Above Tg: 129 x 10-6 in/in°C
  • Shore D Hardness: 88
  • Suggested Operating Temperature: < 350°C (Intermittent); < 662°F
  • Particle Size: ≤ 20 microns

Optical Properties:

  • Spectral Transmission: > 90% @ 520-1660 nm
  • Refractive Index (uncured): 1.5715 @ 589 nm
