Fibersafe 100

FiberSafe 100 is an advanced security system for monitoring fiber optic cables in communication links. Manufactured by Fiberdata, it uses a sensor based on a patented Swedish invention. FiberSafe 100 is easy to install, with a recommended maximum cable length of 6 km. It uses a multimode fiber optic cable to detect any interference or tampering with the monitored cable and will generate an alarm if the cable is merely touched. The FiberSafe 100 works by transmitting a laser beam with collimated light through a multimode fiber optic cable, generating a speckle pattern at the receiving end. Any contact with the cable causes an alteration of the pattern. When the sensor detects this change, it triggers an alarm. FiberSafe works independent of data protocols and transmission rates. Sensitivity can be set for the smallest vibrations, such as those caused by a person walking through a room. The automatic alarm level adjustment, set at installation, can be reset at any time.
