Fiber Optic Center Announces New Furcation Tubing Center

Warehouse Best Practices for Fiber Optic Furcation and Breakout Tubing Products

New Bedford, MA, USA – August 1, 2024 – Fiber Optic Center, Inc., (FOC), an international leading distributor specializing in helping their customers make the best cable assemblies in the world, announces new warehouse furcation tubing center, best practices and expert consultation following their global distribution agreement with Opticonx, a USA-based manufacturer of fiber optic cabling components and a key brand in Belden’s broadband solutions portfolio.

Opticonx’s LightTube™ furcation and breakout tubing products provide quality and inventory needs for the optical networking industry. Fiber Optic Center, Inc. and their partnership with Wayne Kachmar’s Technical Horsepower Consulting have been an industry provider of technical consultation and firsthand knowledge of the history and quality issues related to furcation tubing.

The Fiber Optic Center, Inc new warehouse facility that opened in May of 2023, added a brand new furcation tubing center. Tensile load strength for fiber optic cable is a critical factor in avoiding damage to the optical properties of the material and the new furcation tubing center’s best practices were developed around the state of the art fiber optic spoolers with custom tension control and best practice options. These strict practices will ensure healthy individual fibers and end the recent experiences of broken fibers in cables showing no external physical damage.

In addition to the high quality Opticonx’s LightTube™ furcation and breakout tubing products, the FOC furcation tubing center and best practices will improve the reliability and life expectancy of the fiber optic cable.  A Standard Operating Procedure has been developed by FOC with custom requirements and incoming inspection processes including but not limited to visual inspection, damaged cable identification and spooling best practices. FOC also continues to provide specification details for troubleshooting tight buffer and furcation tubing installation issues.

Opticonx’s LightTube™ portfolio is designed for the protection, termination and identification of all types of buffered optical fibers, including loose tube stranded, tight buffered, micro-distribution, loose tube unitube, central tube and ribbon, for direct termination with industry-standard connectors.

As the industry connection to the most innovative optical products, technologies and technical experts, FOC integrates their manufacturing knowledge and vast experience into their customers’ worldwide operations.
