Preform fabrication, MCVD systems and rare earth doped fiber manufacturing discussions
New Bedford, MA, USA – May 16, 2024 – Fiber Optic Center, Inc., (FOC), an international leading distributor specializing in specialty optical fiber preform equipment selection, process development and manufacturing consultation announces participation at EPIC Technology Meeting on Specialty Optical Fibers 2024.
EPIC Technology Meeting on Specialty Optical Fibers: New Designs and Novel Applications, June 12-13, 2024, in Lannion, France is a leading industry meeting focused on discussions with the whole supply chain about the design, the manufacturing process and the testing and characterization of specialty optical fibers. Topics include the last developments used in applications such as fiber lasers, fiber sensing, spectroscopy, datacom and the new tools for fiber optic preparation, splicing and termination.
Fiber Optic Center and SG Controls will be participating and offering their global partnership of Fiber Optic Center’s consultation services for process information on preform fabrication, stretching and sleeving operations, preform shaping, fiber drawing, MCVD systems and coating requirements for double clad fibers used for high power fiber laser applications and SG Controls’ premier optical fiber manufacturing equipment.
Neal Weiss will be in attendance and available to discuss options from process consultation to post installation assistance. Optical fiber process development topics include but are not limited to:
- Special processes to circumvent problems in the chelate process
- Very high rare earth concentrations explained
- Manufacturing time reduction compared to solution doping
- Fiber performance and enhancements
- High purity RE oxides (five 9’s)
- Controlling the concentrations of various dopants
