Connectors

Fiber optic connectors, also known as terminations, that connect two ends of fiber optic cables, allow for quick connection and disconnection without splicing the cables that transmit data using light over large distances. Connectors are designed for single-mode or multimode fiber optic cables. There are a myriad of recommendations and industry standards used in the selection process including fiber counts, boot lengths, polishing methods, termination types and application needs. Because of those, there are more than one hundred types of optical fiber connectors to choose from. The most common connector types are SC, LC, ST, FC, and MPO/MTO in the fiber optic market.

Fiber optic applications include Communication Systems, Telecommunications, Internet Systems, Cable Television, Inspection Devices, Medical Applications, Lighting, Security Systems, Public Utility Networks, Sensors Infrastructure, Industrial Networking, Automotive, Military Networks, Aerospace Applications and Sensor Infrastructures. The connectors in these networks enable reliable transmission of data and signals.
