Rare Earth Doped Fiber Manufacturing Discussions with Technical Experts
New Bedford, MA, USA – June 17, 2024 – Fiber Optic Center, Inc., (FOC), an international leading distributor specializing in specialty optical fiber preform equipment selection, process development and manufacturing consultation announces participation at Optica Advanced Photonics Congress 2024.
Optica Advanced Photonics Congress is a leading industry event covering innovations in optical materials, optical signal processing, optical communications and integrated optics. During the July 29 - August 1, 2024, event in Quebec City, Canada, the Specialty Optical Fibers (SOF) topic meeting will convene global leaders from academia, industry and the public sector to assess current advancements and anticipate future trends in specialty optical fiber materials, designs and applications.
Booth 305 will offer the global partnership of Fiber Optic Center and SG Controls exhibiting together to combine Fiber Optic Center’s consultation services for process information on preform fabrication, stretching and sleeving operations, preform shaping, fiber drawing, MCVD systems and coating requirements for double clad fibers used for high power fiber laser applications with SG Controls’ premier optical fiber manufacturing equipment.
Neal Weiss and Larry Donalds, Specialty Optical Fiber Expert, will be in attendance and available to discuss options from process consultation to post installation assistance. Specialty fiber and optical fiber process development topics for discussion at Booth 305 include but are not limited to:
- Manufacturing time reduction compared to solution doping
- The process for making double-clad fibers
- Fiber performance and enhancements
- Anhydrous rare earth in quartz boats
- Controlling the concentrations of various dopants
- OH incorporation, background loss
During the following days and times:
- Monday, July 29 - 10am - 4:30pm
- Tuesday, July 30 - 10am - 3:30pm
- Wednesday, July 31 - 11am - 4:30pm
Partnering with Fiber Optic Center for three-decades, the SG Controls team brings their engineering and software expertise, having produced a complete range of tools for manufacturing preforms and optical fiber that includes fiber optic draw towers for high volume production and for research & development, polymer fiber draw towers, MCVD systems for preform production, proof test equipment and rewind systems. SG Controls Equipment offers corrosion-proof gas delivery, state of the art vapor delivery control (seal-less pressure control system requires minimal maintenance), state of the art preform diameter control, MCVD machine controlled by integrated process knowledge and repeatable process controls.
