QUESTION: What are the main applications and industries for optical fiber other than communication networks?

ANSWER:

Optical fiber is used for many applications in almost every industry. The most common application is within cabled structures that are used for the transmission of light or data. Many of us know that fibers are used for the internet communication network but optical fibers are also used in industrial welding applications to cut steel for building cars, and medical applications where fibers are used for light transmission in endoscopes and removal of artery plaque, kidney stone, etc.
