Technical Expert to Discuss Preform Fabrication, MCVD and rare earth doped fiber manufacturing  

New Bedford, MA, USA – February 28, 2025– Fiber Optic Center, Inc., (FOC), an international leading distributor specializing in specialty optical fiber preform equipment selection, process development and manufacturing consultation announces participation at Workshop on Specialty Optical Fibers and Their Applications (WSOF) 2025, April 8 – 10, Prague, Czechia. 

The 8th Workshop on Specialty Optical Fibers and Their Applications (WSOF) will feature a technical workshop and exhibition, focusing on specialty optic fiber applications and the latest advancements and innovations. The event provides an opportunity for students and researchers to engage in technical discussions, evaluate advancements, and share the latest research in specialty optical fiber technology through one-on-one interactions.

Stand 9 will offer the global partnership of Fiber Optic Center, Inc. (FOC) and SG Controls exhibiting together to combine FOC’s consultation services for process information on preform fabrication, stretching and sleeving operations, preform shaping, fiber drawing, MCVD systems and coating requirements for double clad fibers used for high power fiber laser applications with SG Controls’ premier optical fiber manufacturing equipment.

Neal Weiss and Larry Donalds, Specialty Optical Fiber Expert, will be in attendance and available at Stand 9 to discuss options from process consultation to post installation assistance. 

Specialty fiber and optical fiber process development topics for discussion at Stand 9 include but are not limited to:

  • Manufacturing time reduction compared to solution doping
  • The process for making double-clad fibers
  • Fiber performance and enhancements
  • Anhydrous rare earth in quartz boats
  • Controlling the concentrations of various dopants
