Transcript:

The Jonard CST-1900 round cable stripper is designed for fast and precise jacket removal of PVC, rubber, PE and other jacket materials and works well on rounded cables with diameters ranging from 3/16ths to 1 1/8 inches, or the metric equivalent 4.5 to 29 mm. This is also an excellent tool for precise jacket stripping of multi-fiber fiber optic cables. The key to the tremendous versatility of this tool is its design. This stripper features a long-life replaceable cutting blade, Jonard part number CST-7915. This tool also features a spring-loaded cable brace to accommodate various cable diameters. The brace firmly secures the cable to the blade for control the precise cutting action. And finally, the CST-1900 has a 90-degree blade rotation feature which makes it easy to change the direction of the blade for cutting, spiraling and jacket splitting.

The CST-1900 is a triple-action tool capable of performing the three most common cable prep functions. It can circular cut a jacket for quick and easy mid-spanning or end removal. It can cut cables longitudinally for end stripping and it also makes spiral cuts for either end stripping or mid-span cuts. Let us show you how simple it is to make each of these cuts.

To remove a cable jacket using the circular cut feature. Place the tool on the end of the cable and adjust the blades cutting depth so it only cuts the cable jacket and not the conductor. Next, place the tool on the cable where you intend to make your cut and rotate the tool around the cable one time. Using your hands slide the cut jacket off the end of the cable. It’s that simple. This is the same cutting procedure whether you’re doing an end or mid-span strip. To cut a cable jacket longitudinally for end stripping. Once again adjust the blades so it does not pierce the conductor. Perform the circular cut as previously explained. Next, turn the tool by simply rotating your wrist 90 degrees. Pull the tool along the cable and as you’ll see the jacket is easily removed. Again a very easy strip without having to muscle or force the jacket off the cable.

The spiral cutting option of the CST-1900 provides easier removal of harder jackets and is typically used when doing an end strip or a mid-span strip. To perform a spiral strip at the end of the cable. Adjust the blades cutting depth as before, making sure not to cut into the cables conductor. Next, turn the blade to the left locking it into the spiral mode to create a cutting angle. Now place the tool on the cable and rotate the tool around and down the cable until the desired cut has been achieved.

To achieve mid-span access on a cable using the CST-1900 adjust the blade as previously mentioned. Next, perform two circular cuts on the cable at either end of the mid-span access point where you need to get to the inner conductor. Lock the tool in the spiral mode and place it at the edge of one of the circular cuts made previously. Now simply rotate the tool around the cable between the two circular cuts and watch as the cable jacket opens allowing you instant access to the conductors inside the cable.
