SmartClass fiber tools give technicians the ability to inspect, test, certify and save results. All in one compact device, making it easy for them to complete the jobs correctly and on time, the first time. Let's take a closer look at the different tools in the SmartClass fiber family. First is the HD4i series. It has a 3.5-inch color touchscreen video display with two USB ports on the side so that you can connect a P5000i digital analysis microscope to view a fiber endface and also run an automated pass/fail certification to an IEC standard or your customers desired acceptance criteria.
It comes preconfigured with all the acceptance criteria from the IEC standard already on the device. But if your customer has different thresholds, you can configure it accordingly. Using it is simple. Just focus the image and press the test button and you'll get a pass/fail result along with specific details about the result. If you're already familiar with our P5000i probe, you've seen this done on other JDSU test platforms or on a PC with fiber check pro software.
This performs the same way, but it removes the need of having to carry a laptop around with you in the field. You can save the data directly on the device and later connect it to a PC and use fiber check pro to import all of your saved results and generate a certification report to provide proof on the quality of your work.
In addition, you have the flexibility to plug in a USB optical power meter like the MP-60 into one of the USB ports to add OPM capability. You can select multiple wavelengths, measure absolute or relative power, store the readings individually, or link the stored readings with your saved inspection results so that they are integrated together on the certification report.
