Cape Cod Summers, Eclectic Backgrounds and Sneakerheads

Zane Fitzgerald has been with Fiber Optic Center for over three years and brought with him an eclectic background to our customer service department. Having worked customer processes in the landscaping, construction and hospitality industries, he has a fresh perspective. FOC melds Zane’s passion for customer service and his fascination with the needs for fiber optics to meet demands of existing overworked infrastructures with the push on data.

Outside of fiber optics, Zane is this company’s resident sneaker expert, just edging out Mr. Michael Thorpe also in the customer service department. These two seemingly come in every day with a new pair of sneakers which have a whole background story on who they are named after, the year they were released, how many were sold, etc. It is really quite a fascinating sub-culture that collects, buys and sells these colorful and sometimes very pricey pieces of footwear that I had no idea even existed!

Zane is an alumni of Milton High School, BCC and UMASS Amherst. He appreciates working in beautiful downtown New Bedford, MA even with his commute from Yarmouth Port, MA which is an hour - without traffic. Yarmouth Port, MA, for those who do not know it, is Cape Cod and bordered to the north by Cape Cod Bay.

With his wife Brittany and their two sons Carter, 1, and Casey, 6, Zane loves to spend time walking and hiking around the beautiful sites of Cape Cod. Of course his favorite season is summer.

We are sure that is partly because ‘the Cape’ and New Bedford are gorgeous areas in that season but it might have to do with the 100 feet of snow he had to commute through last winter….oh wait, it was only 94.4 inches (in two months)

Zane’s favorite part of an FOC day is the everyday ebb and flow of things. People work hard, exchange with all the different departments, and together create a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The Customer Service Department is like a family ~ five people working together as a true team, all with career longevity together.
