Final Lapping Film
To achieve a return loss of -55 dB or better while maintaining a controlled amount of fiber undercut or protrusion, a specialized Final Polish Film is required. These films remove the fine scratches left from the preceding polishing steps and help achieve the precise fiber height geometry needed for optimal fiber optic performance. This is typically accomplished using a sub-micron Silicon Dioxide lapping film.
Fiber Optic Center offers both ÅngströmLap®, 3M™ and Seikoh Giken final lapping films, listed below for easy comparison based on technical specifications to help you choose the right film for your polishing equipment and application.
