building SN-MT connectors requires specific fixturing and tooling
Next generation architectures are driving the need for optical connectivity solutions requiring greater fiber density that cannot be achieved even by the popular MPO format.
Senko’s SN-MT connector is one of the new VSFF connectors that offer significant density gains over current MPO/MTP® solutions in hyperscale data centers. The SN-MT ferrule makes use of the same proven mechanical transfer (MT) design as the MPO that enables reliable low loss connections. But with a smaller ferrule and improved SN-MT connector body, requires about half the size of a standard MPO connector. The SN-MT16 is optimized for use with 16fiber 200um buffered rollable ribbon cables.
Assembling the SN-MT connector is very similar to an MPO connector, but with a reduced number of parts to worry about. However, since the ferrule size does not have the same dimensions, specific tooling and fixturing is required.
